PBEMBBL restarts in about a week

Post by juergen »

Hello everybody,

I'd like to announce that the oldest e-mail league out there is redesigned and the scripts are in final beta test. If we don't find any showstoppers within the next week we will go live next week.

I've joined as well. Taking a goblin team for a laugh. May add another team later, we'll see. That's 10 teams in 9 leagues, plus friendlies/log matches :o

OH MAN!!!! Darkson ... my Hafllings are playing a Dark Elf team ... you remember my beginning LRB Halfling roster ... ;-) picture it with 2 Ogres instead of 2 Trees ... ;-) ... score is about to become 1-0 for the Flings and the Dark Elves are down to 9 players able to take the pitch (Turn 5 1st half) compared to the Flings 13 ... :D

Welll ... I have a feeling we'll get a chance to throw down later ... and you'll really get your chance for revenge against the Flings ... I wait in dredd ...

Nah, you've got nothing to fear. I've submitted a Gobbo team, and a 'Fling team, just to give everyone something to beat up on. (including your 'flings - I remember how dangerous they were)

Sadly, there's no-one to challenge yet, so I've got to wait a bit for some stunty throwing :(

Galak, I would never ever accepted your challenge! That team is RUDE.
2 Ogres and the Starplayer Tree. And all 3 of them on the LOS makes it damn hard for Skaven to bring down. These poor dead Elves :o)

On a sidenote:
I challenged your flings Darkson,
You have to look at the Webpage, you only recive Mail when someone accepted your Challenge.

Its a theory that I have and I tried it once on a match with Darkson and another time on Old_Man_Monkey. With this game that will make 3 times, I've played a TR 100 game with this team and I'm pretty sure my record is about to become 3 wins - 0 losses.

My theory is this. At TR 100 this is a very competitive team, I still maintain that such a team could do very well at the GenCon tournament. Now after the first game, I'll lose 14 points of TR from the 1st game Freebooting. But I'll have gain a solid first victory. Assuming that 2 Flings would have gotten Killed or Badly SI'd in my first match, this is only 8 more points than I would have expected to lose, and I've found running this roster that I don't lose Flings as my opponents focus on the 3 man wall I put on the LOS.

So the question really becomes is: will the 14 point TR drop screw me for game 2 and after. I maintain no, that in fact leaving the 1st game with a solid win, hopefully some SPPs for the Big Guys sets me up better than if I had not taken the 1st game freebooting.

We'll see how this strategy pans out.

I hope you could sense the sarcasm I wanted to add to the post.I think it got lost between grining at your post and then trying to write something(the smilie should hint at that).
Since this is a perfectly legal tactic I wonder why nobodey tries it out and I hope I get to play that DE team soon.

It has come to my attention that at least 1 person in the pbembbl may be a cheat. In a game an opponent of mine was noticed by Galak to have 44 rewinds. Any long time regulars know how im feeling at this point (although im starting to think every time i join a league that its an initiation to cheat Sean Newboy).

DL ... something you and I completely and fully agree on without hesitation.

The guy cheated against me ... for pete's sake ... if you are going to cheat maybe you should try and restrain yourself from doing so against Ronald or I, the guys who wrote the program and have some really high tech ways of tearing about the bbm log file.

Anyway, the guy pulled off a REALLY good turn after a series of pretty good turns and I got suspicious. Massive cheating. In his last turn against me he cheated 6 times to do the turn with AG 4 Elves. And yes, 44 cheats against Sean.

When I saw the guy was cheating against me I decided I better check out if he was planning anyone else.... sure enough it was Sean .. in fact when I started to check I thought ... its going to be Sean.

I think Sean has had a cheater play against him in the first 2 rounds of every league he's ever joined. I swear he must put on cheater attractant in the morning. Anyway, I've equipped pretty much every PBeM league commish with cheat catching software but with a new league there will always be a few to weed out, and while I know the PBeMBBL isn't new ... its new to the LRB rules world and so I think it pulled in some of the riff-raff with its reopening.

I still don't understand cheating to win a game though ... if you play BB ESPECIALLY BB by EMAIL for pete's sake ... aren't you doing it for love of the game. If you cheat ... guess I just don't understand the enjoyment.
