Is there a chance for this to become official ?

Post by Toby »

*Edit*

"If the Player being thrown is carrying the ball", then
a "Throw Teammate Action" that starts with an "Accurate Throw" and leads to a "Safe Landing" counts as a "Completition".

Not sure if it has a "chance" to become official but our league awards completion points for BGs that accurately throw and safe landing.

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

We play it the same way. Happens quite seldom, though.

1/6 "Accurate Throw" * 2/3 "Safe Landing" = 1/9 (11%) chance for a "Completition"

1/6 "Accurate Throw" * (2/3 + 2/3) "Safe Landing" = 2/9 (22%) chance for a "Completition" (Team Reroll)

(unless my mathematics failed me again.)

I think it has a "chance" of becoming official ... but who knows. I'd allow it, but then I don't get a vote (and several folks consider that a good thing).

HOWEVER, I would only allow the 1 SPP IF the player thrown had the ball.

Then you avoid the beardiness of throwing stunty players to get free SPPs since throwing a teammate without the ball is never a turnover unless you fumble or eat him.

Oops, I had left that part out too...the player being thrown has to have the ball for the SPPs.

Galak, I oppose the "only if he had the ball rule"

First, you might want to get a Goblin behind the enemy line, and hope they will stand up and be open for a pass next turn.
Secondly, a goblin that lies prone in enemy territory is a nice target for a drity foul, if he didn't break his neck already.

I would on the contrary allow a Goblin to be thrown directly at an opposing player, call this a "Flying Blitz".
Forget about the last thing, I dont want to leave the topic.

The "Beardiness" you see will prove to be theoretical IMHO.

Sorry, I'm opposed to no risk SPPs. Being able to get SPPs without risking the turnover with TTM is too great a reward for too little a risk.

An Ogre with Pro throwing a Goblin without the ball to Quick Pass range with a reroll backer would have about a 44.5% chance of getting an SPP under your proposal. (50% * 88.9%)

Or 7 no risk SPPs a game if you did it every turn ..... NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Other number ... without Pro the Ogre could get 5 SPPs a game for 16 passes. With Pass, its just under 13 SPPs a game for 16 passes. Theoretical beardiness ... uh uh ... very very real.

I have to admit that you have a valid point there, as all other (ball) Throwers must take the risk of a Turnover.

However could you explain the math behind the Ogre's use of the "PRO" skill a little please ?

Did the math too quick the 1st time, my number was a little high ... but not much

Stunty teams (ESPECIALLY Halfings) usually have lots of rerolls to spare.
So for the sake of math, assume that you have a reroll backer for the TTM play.

Ogre has Pro:
Quick Pass with TTM is +0 modifier so its a 5+ roll for accurate.

33% of the time it will be accurate = .3333
67% of the time you get a 50% chance to reroll to get the 33% = .1111

Total odds of throwing an accurate TTM Quick pass with Pro is .4444

Odds of sticking a landing with a reroll backer.
Inverse odds of failure (.3333*.3333)=.1111=1-.1111=.8889

Odds of success is .4444*.8889 = .3950 or 39.5%

39.5% * 16 = 6.3 SPPs a game

No you probably won't do it every turn, so the other way to say this is (1/.395) or ... 1 out of every 2.5 passes done this way would result in an SPP for the Ogre.

Our league gives SPP's for accurate throws and landings if the stunty's got the ball as well.
