Lizardman team, starting out. I know this has been done..

Post by Athenry »

Hello everyone.

Starting a Lizardman team in a small league that right now has I think 5 teams, including myself.

Lizardmen
Khemri
Skaven
Orc
Chaos

I have a few questions if you gents would be so kind to answer. Thanks in advance! :)
And away we go:

1. Against such hitty teams, with the exception of the Skaven, should I go with this roster or something else?

Kroxigor
6 Saurus
4 Skinks
3 FF
2 RR
Apothacary

My feeling is that even though it's low FF, I have the expensive players out of the way and will have an easier time raising my FF if I'm winning games against these hitty teams.

2. Does the Krox still have the Bonehead trait? I've heard mention that he doesn't, the Living rulebook says he does though.. clarification please! :)

3. Is Silibili a Freebooter. Making the 140k cost a per game cost?

4. Follow up. Is Silibili Worth the money?

5. Can someone explain the rolls for SPP a little please. I'm a little confused. I understand earning them. My confusion lies in what happens when I have to roll for skills/abilities/traits. I.e. Doubles etc.

6. If someone can offer any small tidbits for handling these other hitty teams, that would be appreciated.. I've had a bit of trouble with them except for the Skaven.. they had 3 players left at the end of the game :D

Thanks fellas
Much appreciated.

6 Skink 360k
2 Reroll 120k
7 FF 70k
Apothecary 50k
2) Yes
3) 70k per game if freebooted
4) for a starting team yes. Not the first game tho.

5. Read the rulebook. It's pretty clear.

6. Use your much higher movement to run circles around them. Make cages with sauri on attack and break the opponent's cage with skinks on defense.

You are going to want the FF, regardless of what players you start with. On a Lizardman team, skinks die. They will die often. It is their nature to die. In twenty games, you will probably lose six to eight skinks to injuries or death. That's an extra 320k - 480k.

I'm not exaggerating this, either. It has happened with all three Lizardman teams I've run, both current edition and 3rd edition.

Someone back me up here so I don't sound so desperate!

Actually, I have lost more Sauri. They get hit all the time and wihout block they also knock themselves out a lot.

If playing a hitty team it's unlikely they will be able to bring more weight onto the line of scrimmage than you will, so hope for an unimaginative opponent who will load players onto the line. Then you have a brawl and run round him with your skinks.

Cannier opponents will use more expendible players to mark your saurus and try to split them up into 1-1 marking. This leaves him 4/5 players to intercept your skinks with. If your skinks get nailed he'll never let them get back up and you will find only your AG 1 players left to attempt to move the ball. If this happens you'll never score so play defensive.

Watch out especially for elves - they quickly develop leapers who will be over your saurus in seconds and attack your skinks from the word go. Any skink that rolls a double should get block to help him survive.

Hope it helps.

I prefer sure hands for a skink on a double.

I keep my skinks back against Elves, if one of them gets through my sauri, he can be blitzed by a skink with two skink assists.

Always, no matter what, always, start with a FF of at least 8, preferably 9. Can't be said often enough.
