doubles!!!

Post by Poxous »

I have an orc blitzer who hit doubles tonight. Trouble is what skill to take? I really want something fun as the Orcs team is starting to get boring.

TEAM:
thrower - pass, sure hands, block, accurate, safe throw
blitzer - block, strip ball, mighty blow, guard
blitzer - block, MA+1, guard, mighty blow, SKILL!!!!!!!!!
blitzer - block, tackle, mighty blow
Bitlzer - block, sure hands, dodge
BO - block, tackle, mighty blow
BO - block
BO
Line - kick, dirty player
line - block, guard
line - guard
line - block
troll - block

A soild team for pounding but I'm thinking of taking catch or something for fun. It's a bashy league but my team tends to not get bashed to bad. I don't want dodge( elf skill) and no leader crap as have rerolls enough. I rather not lean towards bashy things frenzy. Catch?, side step? diving tackle?

In developed Woodie teams of mine, new Wardancers get Side Step as first skill. Side Step is incredible good, especially with Guard.
Though Dodge would probably still be the proper choice, you are likely to fall in love with Side Step eventually.

edit:
Ooops, forgot Stand Firm!
But then, Side Step is more fun.

Why take Side Step when Stand Firm is available? Side Step is the elfy version of Stand Firm.

Anyway, I think for something fun I'd try Dauntless.
For something conservative Dodge or Stand Firm.

Diving Tackle is awful! Catch with a M7 blitzer is well worth it. I've struggled hard to give my Orc team a reliable passing game (by which I mean one that works in 2 turns, not a quick pass out of the cage) and it's great when it works.
Some teams (Undead/Chaos) it's not always worth trying to cage against on offence, you've got your throwers and, if you have them, goblins on the pitch so you're essentially a couple of guys down in the stand up fight. Better to smash a hole in the defence and run through - you can throw and with re-rolls or catch you can catch too. Not too fast, but there your blitzer comes into his own. Once you've scored you can go back to running a crunchy defence (something Orc teams do very well) and your opponent will know he's under added pressure because if he leaves you 2 turns at the end of the half you may just equalise!

Only fly in the ointment is that it'll slightly waste your guard skill, but not so much that it's not worth doing - and you have other guards.

Frenzy could be fun; it will make rolling your cage along the sidelines real easy. Two frenziers would be preferable, however

Sidestep, stand firm, frenzy, or sure feet (to make him elf killer).

Dauntless ... next skill double block...

Great for breaking Sidezone Defence after Kickoff. Set up the rest of the team so that they can fill the hole he created with the Blitz and since you have a lot of Guard players you have no problems continouing with this after the first turn after kick off.

Stand Firm is one annoying combo with Guard. If he only gets a push you are still assisting...

I would have taken stand firm because it is very annoying for your opponent if he only rolls pushback when blocking him.
