I think i started my last amazon team almost excactly as berserker said except i had an apothecary and only 3 RR.
The reason is that your players gets easily injured when they get knocked down and its always smart to have one just in case you are unlucky (got 2 dwarves killed in my first game once when i did not have an apo).
Another thing is that RR are very cheap for amazons (80k) so its much better with an apothecary than an extra reroll.

I started with the following:
4 blitzers
1 catcher
1 thrower
5 linewoman
3RR
8FF
Four blitzers is a very strong setup (four blodge players at the beginning)
A high FF and enough RR (later the RR are cheaper as a new blitzer!!)
With 5 linewoman you will soon get some more blodge players, because you are forced to block, score and pass with them, backed up with a RR they can do the same as a catcher or a thrower
I taked the catcher and the thrower, because they add to usefull skills (catch and pass) to your roster.
I started in league with starting teamrating 100 and I won 7 of my eight matches by losing only one.

I have played amazons for two seasons in a short (6 game + 3 Playoff game) league.
This year I went with
4 Blitzers
2 Catchers
2 Throwers
3 Linemen
1 Apoth
2 RR
8 FF
So far I am 4-1 and am competing for the regular season division title. I agree, you could probably drop a thrower for a lineman, but I am not really sure what the extra 20,000 would by you. If you are in a longer term league go with some of the list above, but I find having the apoth to start is nice.

Amazons
Since they all start with dodge, they're much easier to build up than a Norse team . Plus they all have the same stars, so a Linewoman can quickly become a Blitzer and save 40 K.
2 Blitzers
2 Catchers
1 Thrower
7 Linewomen
1 Apothecary
3 Re rolls
9 F-F
My sister uses this set up; after a single, game, three linewomen had Block (she was lucky). ALthough an extra actual Blitzer can be much quicker, you're going to need the spare player and Apothecary.
PS What Star Players and Big Guys can play for Amazon teams?

Absolutely 4 Blitzers
Camus has it right.
The Blitzers are your strength, Blodge to start and you can develop them into outstanding Catchers/Runners/Safeties with StripBall, Pro, PassBlock, etc. with only one or two advances. Their Strength access lets them get Guard, and with several of them you can really help your team stand up to the more Bashy opponents.
You only ever need one Thrower.
Catchers are needed to make a creditable threat at scoring quickly, and after getting Block they are difficult to bring down as well. Make great Safeties with Pass Block and/or Shadow, critical against elves who will otherwise score on you like there is no tomorrow. Also, someone has to threaten the score to keep Bashers honest.
You have an entire team with AV7. Why on earth would you NOT play with an Apothecary? Besides, I'd rather buy another RR for 80k than a replacement player, not only does it keep your TR down it lets you keep your SPPs (dead players don't do well on SPPs).
What's left is RR and FF, both are balanced well.

didn't they at one time some unicorn thingy?harley_topper wrote:No Big Guys can be hired by the zons
The zons may only hire Thrud as a freebooter, no other starplayers.
I think you should by as much blitzers as possible at the beginning, cause they have block/dodge from the start and they'll help you on offence and defence. They won't go down easily.
sorry if I missed something important

I wouldn't start with 4 Blitzers. A Blitzer at 90K is equal to a Linewoman at 50K and a TRR at 40K. So in effect, you're giving up a TRR which will cost you 80K in future to have one more player start with Block.
I'd try something like 3B, 1T, 2C, 6L, 4RR, FF6 or maybe drop 1 Catcher for another Linetart and bump the FF to 8. Apoth first purchase.

80k for a TRR is still the cheapest way to get it after the season has started. I'd go for 4 Blitzers right away too.Deathwing wrote:I wouldn't start with 4 Blitzers.
