Starting to plan for January and another season at the Hall.

Post by coldsteel »

Okie, got second this year with my beloved Skaven and I'm thinking about doing something different. What I came up with is:

14 Halflings : 420K
1 Ogre : 120K
1 Treeman : 110K

2 RR : 120K
8 FF : 80K
Apoth : 50K

total 1000K

Gonna call 'em Fling me to the Moon...

Obvious changes are:

1. Drop the Apoth and 1 FF for a third reroll.
2. Drop 2 Flings for a third or fourth reroll.
3. Drop the Ogre for a second Treeman and FF9 (supposedly, Flings are losing the option to take an Ogre in October...).
4. Drop the entire idea and play Humans or Orcs...

Hi Colsteel!

Obviously, you want to play Flings for the fun of it, not to win the season, right? Then, if you're still allowed to field the Ogre, I wouldn't change a thing. I play with that line-up and they're fun to play.

With FF8, cash will come in and the 3rd RR won't be too far. And you have the apoth to save your Big Guys if something bad happens. Make sure the Ogre and the Treeman gets as much Cas as they can. After 7 games (2-5), my Ogre has 4, but my Treeman has 9!!

Have you considered Galak's method of freebooting a couple of line Flings for the first game along with Deeproot Strongbranch (if your league allows Star Players)? It gives you a bunch of expendable line fodder, along with possibly the strongest front line in the league.

With the freebooters your TR is guaranteed to drop meaning an extra +1 on winnings as well as a high likelihood of handicap rolls. Hopefully to the Fling's benefit and the oppositions detriment.

Check with your league commish if they will allow you to just replace your Ogres with Trees if/when the rules change in October.

If they will ... run with 2 Ogres to start.

I also HIGHLY recommend freebooting Deeproot for your first game and having an Apothecary starting.

This gives you a VERY strong LOS with 3 guaranteed players and after 7 games using this TR 100 lineup starting, I've only had 1 Fling killed or SI'd in those 7 games.

It gives you a nice game to get the players some SPPs and get your opening game without get slaughtered.

Well, we start in January/February, the weekend after the Super Bowl, so I may be stuck with the Treemen.

Deeproot's 180K, so I'd have to drop 3 Flings to freeboot him, or 2 Flings and have a 6 FF (saved 10K wiht the Treeman vice Ogre). BUT, 3 Treemen on the pitch is JUST EVIL. I like the idea. Of course, buying a model to use once or twice bothers me... Of course, he COULD be the start of a Wood Elf army in WFB... NOT! The wife'd kill me if I started a fourth army...
