Ok, i will try... my first team for a league: Orcs ! :)

Post by traveller »

Well, yesterday i went to the first meeting of the local league about house rules and things like that. Next saturday is the deadline for registration.

And yes, i will try first time to play seriously.

About 18-20 persons will play, quite a few Darkelfsteams, some Skaventeams, at last one Undead- and one Woodelf team, as i saw.
First part of the league will be played without time limit... uff
And a lot of bribery is included into the house rule... " I saw a foul", "I saw no foul", "I saw your secret weapon", " I didnt see..." and so on buttons you can buy with your money. Yes, the organisers will print actually "money", so everybody can use it for bribery ... between the coaches , too. And "headhunting" will be possible, too :o Sounds like a lot of fun , or ? I will see, how long i ... ehm, my orc team... will survive.

I will use my old 3.ed painted ... YES, Dave, what you want to say ?... orcteam first. Later i will use the orc minis i´m right now converting.

So i will have to check out the team roster now. I already read the post
viewtopic.php?t=6275 Thanks for this informations ! And Tim send me his helpfull advices already.

Some more advices and help for a beginner coach ?

Yes, play Dwarfs, not Orcs.

HAHAHAHHAHA, Redfang.... but you are near the truth.

I collected a lot of dwarfcheerleaders and some Coach staff for a Dwarf team before to build a playteam. But for real heavy conversion i like the orcs more. And thats what i´m doing right now... to get a real special team.

Bah, Dwarves are soo boring to play, stick with Orcs.

Orcs are a great league team, although they develop slowly. Here was my starting Orc roster, a bit different then the usual crop:

4x Blitzers
1x Thrower
1x Troll
4x Line-Orcs
2x Goblins

3x Reroll
8x Fan Factor

Not starting with any Black Orcs gets you used to using your Blitzers as key players (which they are). After a few games most of them should have their first skill. Use your Goblins as receivers and the Troll as a pillar (you don't always have to bock with him).

learn the three main rules:
1. always have a man in scoring position in your last turn of the half
2. On defense always send someone behind the oppositions cage/ballcarrier
3. on offense don't put everything on one attack route, leave one or two alternatives to score

You mean, with all those miniatures, you've never even played in a league before? Why even buy Blood Bowl figs then? Why not Warhammer or something else?

In your league set up, the best advice would be to forget orcs and play an agility team. In agility-filled leagues, bashing teams don't perform well (just as agility teams don't perform well in bashing leagues). And the bribe rules actually help the agility teams by letting their players stay alive ("i will give you 50k to save my wardancer with your apothecary").

Because it's Blood Bowl. Coolest background ever, extraordinarily fluffish. When I was young my home town saw many Chaos All Star, Brian "Mad Man" Zulski and Morg'N'Throg Graffitis on its walls. I'd never even have considered that with WHFB or 40k or any other fantasy game. Blood Bowl is something unique.

.

I got the feeling, i need some team, which could take some beating and is a bit " faster" than dwarfs ( sorry, Redfang  ) I tried some games with orcs and dwarfs before... I will try to keep on " destroying " and no winning... maybe a bit shortsighted, i knew, but fun for the first games
bribe rules

here just my feeling.... brrrrrrr.
