Post by Mumster »

Can a player use skills when using a bomb, for example:

Pass
Strong Arm
Accurate
Catch
Pass Block
etc.

Thanks

I would think so.

I know the Star Player Bombr Dribblesnot has the Accurate skill.

Another question about bombs, does it take up your pass action?

It doesn't say. We've played it both ways. I like being able to use the passing skills with them though so we tend to lean toward making it a pass action. The only bummer about that is that, if you're actually going to make a pass, that player is usually useless.

A bomb is treated exactly like a football ... so any skill that works with passing works with a bomb ... except Dump Off (no time to light the fuse).

So with the new experimental rules ... if you get a doubles roll you might want to consider a Hail Mary Pass Goblin who you buy Bombs for.

As for using the Pass action ... well its doesn't say it does, so I'd rule it doesn't. I'll put it on the Hot List, but nothing in the text indicates to me that it must be used instead of a Pass action whereas the Dagger and Chainsaw rules are very clear that their uses replaces a Blocking action.

Nuther Q abt Bombs.

Can a player with the ball attempt to catch/intercept the bomb?

Also, If the intended square contained a player, and the bomb was accurate, does it still scatter one square before exploding? What if the player was holding the ball?

While the bomb does allow you to use your passing skills I would not say that it takes up your pass action. There are no other secret weapons that I know of that use up special actions like a blitz action or a foul action. Since it does not specifically state that it uses a pass action in the bombs description I would rule that it does not use one up.

Hope this helps.

Jervis ruled some time ago (posibly for 3rd ed) that throwing bombs did not include taking a pass action!

And I'm sure it's not supposed to be a pass action. The bomb might be thrown back at you, and if you catch you are allowed to throw it again. But that would not be posible, since you are only allowed one pass action. Ok, you can considder it an exception since subsecquent throws are out of sequence.
Still I would definately say no, its a pass action (particulary due the old clarification by Jervis combined with the fact that rules concerning passing and concerning bombs havent changed since then).
