I want Old style team back, BUT keep the new style team.

Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

Post by WildAnimal »

All the 3rd ed. team are great, but i want some of the 2nd edition teams back,
Why can't there be two human teams? i would really like a human team with a blocker type would be great, and a dwarf team with blockers AND linedwarfs?(i know longbeards are blockers in some way).

They have already made the new Elf team, the minis look 2nd ed in style AND it have the roster for a 2nd ed. elf team....hope they do some more "2nd style" teams.

What do you think?

Ok first i wanna say i don't like your tone, your reply have nothing to do with my topic, its like you wan't to mock me or something,

and i based my "view" on the testing rosters ive seen, therefor i cannot put any detail into my original letter.

I have seen some of the minis, and they have some of the 2nd ed style.

Brian, I just don't see that at all in Grumble's post. It's not his style, either.

You indicated that you had the roster for the new Elves, and he asked if it was put out by BB mag, which puts out the new ones fairly frequently. I really doubt it was meant in the way you interpreted it.

As for the second ed teams, I came in at the tail end of 2nd edition, and liked a lot of the character of the game. Though, to be honest, I don't really remember a whole lot about the roster tradeoffs you had to make, other than there were some. I wouldn't mind seeing alternate rosters for some teams, but only if they're not unbalancing to the game as a whole.

Brian: you want a punchy 2nd ed style human team? easy. Use the rules for Orcs with the 2nd ed. minis. You can't have the catchers that way admittedly, but thats balance. Its exactly what I plan on doing if I ever get my Nipponese team painted (or even assembled...).

AFAIK they are trying to get the 2nd ed. feel of the game back. I don't think New Rosters for existing races are going to solve anything though. there are rosters for Slann and Werewolf teams around - try www.midgardbb.com

No, I made my peace with 3rd/LRB ed. feel of the game, because now it's a much better board-game than it was before.

Still I would be very happy if Gutter Runner, Storm Vermin, Wardancer and the whole HE crap would be just called cacther, Blitzer and Thrower etc.

Oh yes, and bring back the coloured bases.

Back to topic: with LRB you can have many different Human teams, just use different build -up for new skills gained. In 2nd ed. you had absolutely no control what your team would look like after 5 games of skill advance.
Actually you do not need that many different rosters, you have flexibility in progress.

Most for Gum, but also more of my oppinions.

Post by WildAnimal »

OK Grum, i'm sorry about it, i can see now it was wrong, maybe i was in a rather irritating mood this morning, but again sorry.

TOPIC: Jeg i also think that 3ed/LRB is a 768% better game then 2nd edition, rules technical, and BB is my favorite game along with space Hulk 1st edition.
But the world/feel/fluff of 2nd still have something for me, and i would love alternative rosters for ALL races, i know that you can "grow up" many kind of teams with skill rolls and such, but its simply not enough for me. I want something more then the rosters now have to offer.

I'm think that maybe on a human team: 0-2 blitzers 0-2 blockers instead for 0-4 blitzers, i know that humans are balanced now, but i would like more chooices for a starting team. just my oppinion!

And for that sugjestion that you could use 2nd edition humans minis as orcs, its not a stupid idead, goblins could be catchers, nice idea if the other guys in the league also thinks its a good idea.

I'm glad to hear that BBmag 8 is soon to be delivered.
New elves in it and what more? i personaly don't get the mag, low on money, but i hope that the best pictures are scanned onto some page so i can have a look.

To round up, my hopes and what i want, you all can see as luxury problems, as i see it BB it the only game that actually get a positive update each year, something other games generaly don't, but without new idea (Old ideas :-]), it would not evolve. And every player should fight so the game turns the way he wants!!!

I think the fact that everything is called Catcher, Blitzer and Thrower is pretty cheap and prefer the proper titles!

Is it possible to find all the 2nd ed rules and such now? Because i don't believe i've ever seen them, though i played once when i was substantially younger and occasionally have flash backs to rules that no longer exist, like arguing with the ref and such!

as BB is a so called "sports-game" it would be really cool, if GW would stick to the same position names for the different teams ...

I disagree. The words "Wood elf blitzer" don't engender as much hatred and loathing as "Wardancer" :D

I like the different names personally - we all know what they are really.... Besides, undead skellies, zombies, wights ghouls etc - they ARE what they are - not positions...

More variety would be cool though -I really like the new elves. One friend of mine said - "Why? There's no need for another elf team". But thats the point.... There's no need, but why not?

We're using all sorts of human teams in our league:

Human
Bretonnian
Kislev
Norse
Amazon
Araby
Nippon (I hate ninjas!)
Vampire (not really human I suppose)
Border Princes

I quite agree. Gutter Runner, Witch Elf and Troll Slayer are all full of character and too well ingrained into the history of Blood Bowl to be changed now. I even like the silly High Elf positional players, now that I've gotten used to them.

I like those names a lot too!

The give character to those positions and to the teams and they are fun! Keep them!

I'm fine with all the "funny name" positions except the High Elf ones...mostly because I've never bothered to learn them. :P

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.
