Dwarf Blockers (formerly Iron Breakers)

Post by Darkson »

Preface: I haven't slept for about 36 hours, and I'm knackered, so tis is probably total garbage. No offense is meant to anyone, anywhere, at any time, OK?

OK, (some) people want the Ogre off the Drawf roster, and (some) people want something in return, cos dwarfs are crap

How about 0-2 Dwarf Blockers (formerly Iron Breakers)

3/3/1/9 Block, Guard, Stand Firm, Thick Skull G/S 120k

Editted to remove reference to WFB names, as it seems to upset some people

Reason: ''
Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I like it. But I also liked my Dragon Slayer.

I dint like the Dragon slayer (st 5 if i recall), the idea is to bring in something less of a big guy but still superior. I could go for the iron breakers or a st 4 slayer.

My troll slayers want to be dragon slayers when they grow up. As an addition its a little more of the same.
The Iron gaurds seem very expensive, even if they do have gaaurd and stand firm. They have the one more skill than a longbeard, even less movement and even less ag (tho you'd never use it!).
When they get knockd down on the LOS (By big'uns, 1 dice block when outnumbered, a flanking manuver or being the last one left standing, they won't even be able to move back into contact without going for it!.
I suggest 100K.

How about a Dwarf Whinner...

0-2 Dwarf Whinner 90k - 4/2/2/10 - Thick Skull, Jump Up, Special: Whinner

When standing next to an Ogre, the Whinner may declare a Whine action: roll a d6, if the score beats the Ogre's agility he joins the Dwarf team for that turn, resolve the Ogre's action immediately. "Waaah!!! I want my Ogre!! Waaah!!"

ps: I hope everyone realizes this post was made in jest ;-)

Guard on a ST3 stand firm, AV 9 player is a very useful skill, and at 100k these would be underpriced imho.

I do like the name Iron Breaker; it fits with the other names in the Dwarf team. However, I prefer the stats suggested by me, Pariah and probably some others before us:

0-2 Iron Breakers 3 4 1 10 Stand Firm, Thick Skull 100k (?)

The Iron Breaker/Blocker you suggest to me appears too much to be a develloped Longbeard, and I think that it is lack of Str4+ players that will be the problem for Dwarf teams.

Iron Breakers

Post by Athanasius »

How about
0-2 Iron Breaker
4 3 2 9 Block, Thick Skull (General, Strength) 70k

Special: Iron Breakers are always considered to have Str equal to any opposing player blocking them (before assists).

Kind of an anti-dauntless, this helps Dwarves stand up to the other team's Big Guys, but does it in the more appropriate "I'll bite your knees off" Dwarven style.
Another advantage would be that since it only helps when being blocked (ie on your opponent's turn), the already bashy dwarves aren't pushed any further towards "killing machine" uglyness.
