additionally, if he uses 5 players to get my player off the pitch (or 4 if one of that spaces is blocked by one of my players) he then has 4 players next to the sideline or only one square away. Time to swarm in with the 3 remaining blitzers and some support to really give the crowd some work to do :D (unless they all have SS or SF)

If you gotta play the sideline game, you gotta be prepared for it and no team is better at it than the Norse imo. (maybe the Darkelfs are on the same level, as witches are faster and get SS without a double) ...

I think Side step or Dauntless.

Dauntless will really help if there are lots of strength teams around, side step is better if there is more flair.

It looks like 'side step', 'Dauntless' and 'stand firm' are the three top choices then.

In our league we have only 2 teams with players S4+, they are Orcs (with 4 Black Orcs) and a Vamp team (1 lord and 4 vamps) and ive played them both already. The rest of the league is made up of skaven, elf and dwarf teams. Also the only team with a big guy is a goblin team (that i cant seam to beat for some reason-2 draws).

Ive never realy given much thought to 'side step' for any of my player?

As for 'dauntless' i'd feel much better going toe-to-toe with a S4+ player if i had Block and Dodge.

I think that i might go for dodge, ive always had my heart set on a blodger after seeing a dwarf blodging blitzer holding up a line against 2 black orcs.

.....then again i might change my mind. I dont play my next league game for 2 weeks so i have plenty of time to pick a skill.

I would have said something boring, like dodge or standfirm.

However, I love the idea of sidestep. For a blitzer who will often find himself either: on the sidelines, or all by himself, it works to protect him in both cases. Sidestep should only allow him to get hit once when he is on his own, and then obviously, when he is tip-toeing the sidelines, not only will it save him from taking a seat in the crowd, but even better than standfirm, it will allow him to set up his next shot at pushing someone off the pitch.

I would strongly consider sidestep... though by now, you've probably already chosen your skill.

Exactly, Stand Firm stops you getting pushed into the crowd, but Side Step stops you getting pushed into the crowd and sets you up next turn to push an opponent into the crowd... :smoking:

Personally, I think Side Step has more tactical uses. You can get a blodger quite easily, anyway. Give it to a lineman!

The more people go on about it the more 'side step' is starting to sound better and better.

It's looking like i might have to change my mind on dodge and go for side step instead.

While Standfirm helps you to dodge and keeps you on the pitch after pushing someone into the crowd, sidestep helps you to set up immediately for the next crowd push (together with jump up) if you get blocked. No way to block-and-not-follow. This makes your blitzer almost unblockable within 2 squares from the sideline without the danger for the blocker to surf the crowd next drive. Also combines great with dodge on a second double and guard on a regular skill.
Almost unblockable?? What did I miss? I can knock your blitzer over what is what I want. AV7, right?? I don't really mind you sidestepping behind me unless I am indeed close to the sideline. But then I know what is next and get prepared for it, I would say. There are more blitzers out there who can still blitz me into the crowd, no matter whether that special one has side step or not. My position there is exposed in any way, and I have to deal with frenzy the whole game. If you still want to push me...

And it's usually possible to force you into a two-dice-block in my favor, if I want (for example with guard). Or I get my dirty player there, because the blitzers are the ones I am after anyawy...many scenarios possible here.

Yes, I know I could miss you and you will remain standing, or I won't break your armor which is the same due to jump up.

However, I think dodge helps your blitzer more since you might need to dodge for a blitz (Norse are not that fast) or just for not getting knocked over (jump up only helps if you survive the AV roll) and Stand firm is still better than sidestep because you might want to dodge more often to get into a better position and you won't cause a turnover that way.

But dauntless is also nice, depending on your league opponents....

Dodge - More defensive, and helps with maneuverability, but cancelled by tackle

Dauntless - More offensive, getting at least 1 die blocks on strong guys

Side step - can set up better blocks, but need a push result.

With my team, I went with dauntless, but I was going for an aggressive style. My team is 2 and 4....

Norse can only out block a team in it's first few games. After that their low armor starts to tell, and need to play a little more defensive. I would go for dodge first, and depending on your Meta, go for dauntless or sidestep for your second skill...

Side Step is also a psycological weapon, in the same way as Frenzy itself. These skills make you think twice about blocking the guy, or may force you to overcommit in attempt to get rid of him. Combine these two skills, both which have the power to unsettle, and you have a nasty player.

If you can put your opponent on the back foot. If you can make him change his tactics. If you can make him think about what you can do rather than what he can do, then you are halfway to winning. All it takes is one out-of-position player and you can take advantage to move into a TD-scoring position.

Dauntless, Dodge etc help you play the game - they make game mechanics easier. Side Step helps you win the game....

Remember that Norse blitzers have Jump Up, so knocking them down in no way means you are safe next turn!
