Fantasy Skills

Post by Tritex »

I think that there should be more skills just to add variety to teams...You see so many teams nowwith same old skills like Block/Dodge..etc.

Any Ideas...heres some of mine:

Dodgey Dealer: If this player in on the field team gains additional 1-6,000 monies for sales to fans.
Chief Negotiator: Gets +'s to Arguing with the ref,
Beserker: can block more than 2 opponents but gets a -1 off his str for every opponent after first 2 (great with dauntless)
Die Hard: Like regenerate but for none undead players that don't want to go down

Any More?

I like the ideas.

Specially because the skills will add "color" the game without changing it. Dodgey dealer is great :-). I miss some great new skills for stunty players (AG skills).

With the Vault in mind...

Blatant Foul (General Skill)
The player may lays in the boot so clearly that the Referee has no chance of missing it. A player may make a blatant foul as part of a normal Foul action. No Armour roll is necessary; instead make an unmodified Injury roll against the target. A blatant foul is so obvious that the player making it will always be "sin binned", and can take no further part in the drive. Place him in the Reserves box; he may be used again as normal after a touchdown is scored or the half ends. If the player rolls a double on this Injury roll, he will be sent off for the entire match as normal. Note: If using the LRB, a player using this skill will be sent off for the whole match if the D6 Referee roll is successful.

Unstoppable (Strength Skill)
The player will not fall over if he fails a Dodge roll. Although the player stays on his feet, he stumbles as he moves into the square he was dodging to, so his action ends and he may do nothing else that turn. A turnover, however, does not take place. Note: This is essentially one half of (the 3rd edition version of) Stand Firm; i.e. the part that has been deleted in the Vault. Whilst combined these two components were far too powerful, I think it would work as a separate skill.

Dive (Agility skill)
The player is expert at protecting himself when he falls over. He counts as having an Armour Value of 10 for the purposes of any failed Dodge, GFI, Leap or landing rolls.

Nice originality, but there are DEFINITELY some balance issues to deal with here.

Dodgey dealer is a nice idea, but if it were a real skill I'd give it to every line elf on my team as the first skill, and make sure each was on the field for part of the game. Yay I get 10d6 for winnings this game!

Die Hard: You'd better make it a doubles-only for everybody or something, and you'd also have to make a rule to say a person with this can't be apothed. I would still doubt it being accepted generally, the LRB limited Regen for a reason. :) Alternatively, you could make it so that it only worked on a 5+, then it might be ok.

Berserker: I don't understand exactly what you're going for here, but if I am reading it right, it sounds a lot like multiple block only a WHOLE lot better, just -1st (like an assist) instead of adding opponents' strengths together.

Chief negotiator: Could be OK, but you need to limit it like Leader or something, where only 1 person can get it, otherwise you'll have a foul-happy coach using it to argue every call with a +4 (have 4 guys with it)

Nazgit's suggestions are a lot more reasonable. I'd love to have a Dwarf Team full of that Unstoppable skill, like I did with with the old Stand Firm. That was what I used the SF for anyway, take a dwarf with Guard and SF and dodge him into 4tzs to give assists to all his friends! :)
