What about my point that some coaches like it this and some prefer that way for example no Stars vs. A lot of Stars. So that creating the opportunity to play both ways with a littel tradeoff on each exterem side would basically be a good thing, wouldnt it ?
Normally compromise is a truely wonderous thing.

However, honestly Toby you are the first person I've talked to in a long, long time that wants a lot of Star Players back in the game of Blood Bowl, and you're the first person I seen suggest that they be able to get skills after you buy them. I love compromise but what you are suggesting needs compromise is 100 people in a room wanting to order Bacon & Eggs for dinner and you wanting Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce so the entire room should meet half way and order Fettucine Carbonara.

I seriously want to know from the other thread why that didn't work for you. The "Build a Star" method I described is simple, fits in with the current rule base so you don't need two leagues and rule sets, would allow you have have Morg, Zug, and Griff on the same team (if you could develop them), and its not even my idea so I don't have an alternate reason to plug it. What about that concept would not work for you ... if you explain that to me that would give me some better idea what the issues are. Because I honestly think that that system is your compromise.

Galak please refer to the System i suggested in "General Chat" as this one was just the initial idea.

Basically, the Biggest difference to the System you suggested is that the Star is instant availiable, and the SPP he would have needed were received by regular players. (Regular players are more important than stars to me to make that clear). Stars are a way to work around major problems like a Treeman brings stability into a Wood Elf Lineup).

At least someone got that joke .... wasn't sure how international Fettucine Carbonara .... cause if you don't know how to make it the joke makes this really pretty noise as it flies 10,000 feet over your head.

Thanks Dave ... nice to know at least 1 coach got it.

Galak

Problem is for me is its a bad example as I LOVE good Fettucine Carbonara!

I understood it (had pasta for lunch AND dinner yesterday, and isn't very keen on Eggs. Can I just have a Bacon sandwich?)

i disagree with galak. i have a 16 year old league and we use permanant star players. you buy them at the beginning of the league and there yours until dead, released or traded. we have 25-30 players twice a year and nobody has problem one with it. its a point based system. coaches have a budget. figure it out. i know many people who hate the freebooter system and DO NOT believe this it the diricition bloodbowl should be heading. i really think people who play touraments are the main movers and shakers in pushing the freebooter rule. 16 years of great leagues can't be fare wrong.

toby, stars, imho, should not advance. with that said, you should come to the understading that stars are not real popular around these parts. i don't know why. my stated oppinion is that its a flaw in the systen(started in 3ed edition) that cut to the bone sez "we(GW) don't push or support bloodbowl like 40k,so don't expect a whole lot of people to play bloodbowl. so, lets stop playing bb in a real league type system, becouse not many people will turn up to play. what we'll push is a half assed system where you play anyone who does turn up. also, lets forget everything that came before, like star players, secreat weapons, etc. our league uses star players and we get 25-30 players twic a year. we love star players!

bound, I thought you said you'd lurked for quite a while? Toby has been banned.

And although I didn't want to get into it...

The reason I dislike stars is nothing to do with the type of league I play in (I actually play in a scheduled league, not an open one), it's because, like in every GW game out there, they are a bunch of over-powered cr*p only present in the system to push an (even more than usual) overpriced miniature.

The fact that you and your league like stars, and have developed more is great, more power to you, but just because others don't agree doesn't make it wrong. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that the "star-lovers" are out-numbered by the "star-haters", but as I said, if you want to play them then that's fine and your right. Just don't slag of those of us that have tried them and then dropped them.

Oh, and could you please not resurrect every 2yo thread? ;)

Great, evidence that he's a lying troll. Dang, I was hoping he was just a well-intentioned yokel with one of those strange leagues that works for the participants, like some members of the BBRC.

Resurrecting threads is a great way to troll, because people start out upset before they even look at the new response. If the thread was part of a flame war, or started by another troll, all the better. Then, tell people you're an adult and write like a kid. It doesn't matter if you're 12, 22, 42, or 62 in real life. No one will know, and you'll annoy jerks like me. In Blood Bowl forums, there is no better way to express superiority than to tell someone you own rules from before he started playing. And, of course, choosing a thread in which you can agree with Toby and disagree with Galak helps.

I'm wondering where this will go. This guy has supposedly been playing Blood Bowl since the first box arrived on American shores. Maybe we can learn something about our prehistoric past.
