Kick Skill, when to get it???
Kick Skill, when to get it???
We are hitting Wk. 5 in our Local League... The SPP is flowing nicely now...
My Win, Loss, Tie record isn't the best yet, but my Zons are starting to poke their heads up, out of the water now...
My Team rating is in the Top 5... Doesn't mean a whole lot, but still...
Half my team has "Block"/ "Dodge" now...
1 Blitzer has "Guard", and 1 of my Throwers has "Accurate"...
I'm thinking that "Kick" should be soon...
When do you take it???
After all your Players are set up nicely with defensive Skills???
- or -
Do you get it earlier????

Generally I (now) go for taking it as a first skill on the first lineman to normal skill if I have players with a movement of 7 or higher. If not then I tend to wait for some linemen to get block etc. Only exception to this I'd say are Dwarves and Chaos Dwarves, both need the ability either kick deep or near to the LoS to hopefully get into a midfield fight

I agree with this. I also like to have linemen with Kick and leader if at all possible.Grumbledook wrote:fast teams i get it as early as possable on a lineman (unless they get doubles or a stat)
other teams i wait a bit until i have some block maybe tackle and stripball and then i will take kick

I don't think I've ever taken Kick, before visiting these boards, but I've been enlightened, and if My Hobgoblin hadn't rolled a doubles, he would have gotten it. (I took dodge instead, hoping to get him sure hands next...)

Dirty Player is really useful with Amazons, because you don't often finish the match with 11 players, so if you can restore the balance a little...ianwilliams wrote:With 'zons?Cervidal wrote:At 6 SPPs:

In a human team, would you not consider kick on a thrower?
Basically in my starting human lineup I only have 4 linemen (why? because I don't see a need for a human team to have any more than 4 linemen at any point) so these will mainly be used on the los with the blitzers in the wings and the catchers ready lend assists or run through and threaten if the ball isn't picked up. Therefore 1 of the few players back is the thrower and it could be a useful on a defensive thrower.

On a thrower I would take Accurate for the first skill, and I would consider Kick earliest as a second skill. By that point I surely have a lineman for advancement. And I usually place some Blitzers with Guard on the LoS.c9805222 wrote:In a human team, would you not consider kick on a thrower?

Not a bad development. I'd take Accurate & Block 1st. If he didn't get a double by the 3rd skill then kick is a decent enough choice.c9805222 wrote:In a human team, would you not consider kick on a thrower?
However I normally have "spare" linemen, so making one a kicker isn't a big issue. You don't need 2 throwers on defence, so fielding a lineman is an option. Also I don't like fielding more than 2 catchers at once - which further increases the room in the defensive 11.
