How do YOU use your Witch elves
Someone used the phrase "most people do . . ." in regards to witch elves. I have used them several different ways, but I have a prominent development path for them.

My Druchii friend, I feel we will differ as usual, but I voted for the catcher option although I do use them as blitzers as well. This is because I think they are too unreliable as blitzers and the safer option is catcher. DE's do have 4 blitzers afterall, or should have.

I start them out with block either route. Most often they don't get any doubles or increases and end up as general sweepers and elements of disturbance for my opponent. On an early increase, I'd consider making them scorers.
My current two are:
5. Nova Caine (block, sidestep, mighty blow)
6. Ephedra Sage (block, AG+1, leap)
I guess the first one is going tackle soon and become my prime WD-hunter. The second one I'm not quite sure of yet. Maybe she'll develop her cagebreaking skills further, but she also needs sidestep badly (she's a witchelf after all). Maybe some suggestions on this one?

Well for the first one. Dauntless on a doubles, but tackle for sure. On the second one I think you should go with strip ball, or again, dauntless on a doubles. You have one with sidestep, so your opponent is already fearing the sidelines, and the second one is a perfect cage breaker. The maxim of course being that "one is a target" so I would get him sidestep after strip ball, for sure.
And yes, for the most part I Disagree with Night Dragon. Although I haven't hesitated to use them in the reciever roll (If I can, I don't even field them on defense until they get block), I never build them as such. AG 4 and Dodge is enough to allow me to choose my blocks, so I don't find them that unreliable. The fear of a Frenzy player that can go anywhere she chooses, and developed to HIT, tightens up offenses, and can be used (with careful planing on assists) to really open a cage.

I definitely use my witch elves as blitzers. First skill is Block. After that a variety of Side Step, Tackle, etc. MB on doubles (it's not going to be PO is it!).
I wouldn't give Dauntless to a witch elf... I would rather that someone going up against big guys had higher armour, so I give Dauntless to one blitzer and a back-up line-elf (or two) who already has Block.

I have built mine as receivers, but thinking about it, I would now surely build them to be bashers (I started my Delf team some 3 years or so ago and thought that they were the catchers
seeing that they had dodge... they scored pretty good though)

Blitzer, because they don't really last too long if you consistently put the enemy team between them and their teammates...Asperon Thorn wrote:Someone used the phrase "most people do . . ." in regards to witch elves. I voted other...while they way I use them isn't SO different from blitzer, I always love developing them as 'safety/defensive back' types. The usual Block, tackle, passblock, shadowing route...strip ball is great as well, and I might throw that in in lieu of passblock...all depends on how long they live hehe...give one leap and you have yourselves a monster on defense.

I'm a wacko that uses them for throwers.....
Well, almost. They are more safeties than throwers, but it's the close one to the way i use them. They hang back to pick up loose balls, ambush recievers and such.
They tend to get hold of the ball deep in my own half (usually on defence, or if my attack stalls), and pass downfield to blitzers (4 is enough of these). Obviously they still get mostly blitzer-type skills, and can fill in if need be.
I've also (worryingly) played quite a lot of games with the witches on the bench, because they just didn't seem nescessary......there are times when a block lino is a much more reliable option.

I definately see them as catchers. Why build them as such when they catch on an AG +2, because
1. I don't want to potentially use up a re-roll when DE's should be catching as a birth right
2 Because you already have 4 blitzers so some team diversity is good
3 Their low AV makes them very susceptible to be taken out when blitzing so losing valuable on field players.
However on a double I would take dauntless.
