Thing with tackle is, I won't get to use it much, seeing as our league is almost devoid of players with dodge...

In which case, go for Strip Ball, I guess.

Tackle or Strip Ball on normal skill.

Guard, Dodge or Mighty Blow on a double.

In that case start of with Strip Ball. I would want Tackle in the end as well since the ball carriers of your oppenents will most probably end up with Dodge.

Or players that roll doubles? Or other Elves that choose it?

For me it's between tackle and sure hands. I always like the skills that have two uses.

Strip ball -- is nice and I've taken on an orc blitzer or two, can't remember the last time I've used it. It's a good side effect skill since usually you want to knock the guy down and get the ball that way. A little too situational for my liking.

Sure Hands -- a great skill that I've seen taken very rarely (in my league no idea about others). Helps in two purposes, picking up the ball (god how many times have i failed that one) and holding onto the ball when pushed by a strip ball player. Canceling another players skill is always a bonus. However with your ghouls most likely the primary ball carriers this might not be a much used skill unless your wight tries to become a fullback type runner (big bruising blocking fool) which could take away from your ghouls development as scorers

Tackle -- an even better skill that I've only just realized how good it is with more agility teams coming into the league. It cancels a skill and disallows a skill re-roll forcing use of a team re-roll if needed. It's used on blocks which is a wights job and can be used to target the opposing team's ball carriers who will eventually get dodge (first skill I give to non lineman on doubles). Plus against non dodge heavy teams (read power heavy hitting) the tackle won't make him a target while a dodge heavy opponent most likely isn't going to be headhunting your better players.

All that typing to end up saying...

Tackle
