First both parties set up their team at the same time. Alternatively you could let each coach set up one mini at a time, starting with the coach with the most active players left or randomly determining the coach that places the first mini. All the normal rules for setting up are obeyed.
Then a D6 is rolled to randomly determine in what centre square the ball is dropped. (A wizard is hired for this using a spell to either create a ball in the air or to float one there. Some rich Dwarf stadiums use a guy in a Gyrocopter for this).
The player under the ball (if any) then has a normal chance to catch this (catching a bouncing ball, with TZ modifiers) if he doesn't catch the ball use the following scatter template (rolling a D6):
Code: Select all
1 2
X 3-4
5 6
Code: Select all
1 2
X 3
4 5
RR 6's
If the ball lands in an empty square it bounces once more using this template, either until it is caught or until it lands in an empty square and bounces again to an empty square.
(Alternatively the Kick-In template can be used instead of this new template)
Once one of these 2 events occur, the player whose side the ball is on may take 1 action. This may either be a pass action up to short pass range (or only quick?), a hand-off or a move action. Movement for each of these actions is halved. GFI as normal (?)
(Should blitzing be allowed as well?)
After this action, the other player (who does not have the ball) starts a normal turn, and play continues until a TD is scored, which then determines the winner.
As I said this idea is not thought through well enough, but I just wanted to share and see if we can make this work in some way.
What do you think?
