Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

Hi Gken,
AFAIK, a warhammer storm vermin has ST4 too - so that doesn't have to translate to ST4 in BB. It could, but it doesn't have to.

yeah but stormvermin have block.

horns does not equal block or st4....especially on a team full of it. you can only blitz with one player and it will most likely be the beastigor.

Hi gken,
>yeah but stormvermin have block.
I'm not against giving Centigors block :)
They've already paid 40K for 2 marginally useful skills, so a cheap block wouldn't be unfair, IMO.

Depending on how far down the pitch your target is.
If your target has ST3 then blitzing it with a Centigor would be "enough".
Oh - especially if it had block :)

(I'm merely saying that warhammer don't translate into BB stats in a precise way, and that personally, I find a very fast blitzer alluring, as an alternative to playing a standard chaos team).
Cheers

i think as a standard beastial chaos teams shouldn't start with block...i'd rather them strong and unpredictable.

Your blitzer is too fast. bull centaur fast is fast enough...being able to cover 9 squares with relative reliability is good.

Still think the 4 ST 4 players works the best.

If you want an 8 mv st 3 player....call him an ungor.

0-12 Beastman 60k 6 3 3 8 Horns {G,S,Ph}
0-2 Bestigor 100k 6 4 2 8 Horns {G,S,Ph}
0-2 Centigor 130k 6 4 2 8 Frenzy, Sprint, Sure Feet {G,S,Ph}
Re-rolls = 70k
Minotaur Big Guy

Could we all jump onboard this list? I think the Centigor should get Horns, loose Sure Feet. He does have Horns, and being drunk would be reflected by dropping the SF. Just an idea, a simple yea or nay is fine.

I like this team, apart from ST4 Frenzy. It's just too good. Take a look at what a werewolf can do! Or a Frenzy/Block/Break Tackle BC... Change Frenzy into Horns, and consider dropping the cost to 120k.

I'm all for copying the BC concept though. The team is a bit like a CD variation, but an interesting one. Compared to chaos, I think it'd be stronger in low TR because of the movement, but more vulnerable in high TR due to the lower AV.

ST4 Frenzy is very strong, I would agree that dropping it would be a good call. Adding the Horns means that the costing formula would price the player at 120k. Seems a fair price to me.

Despite ST4 Centigors not being exactly to my personal taste I do think this team would be the most balanced of those presented so far. Additional speed and horns for a loss of agility and AV seems a fair trade and the speed of the Centigors is balanced by an additional 20k of cost.

The starting team would be about the same as a basic chaos team because Centigors are too expensive to buy without compromising on RR or FF but additional speed would make them a bigger threat early on.

Later in the league the AV would drag them down a bit but the low AG on the Bestigors will mean that they also take longer to develop and so in combination these will act as a limiter over long term growth in comparison to chaos.

Not likely but I guess if this became official tommorrow I would be pretty happy with the result. I think we should rechristen the Beastmen as Gors though to keep Grumble happy :wink: [/quote]

Alright,
giving the (ST4) centigor MA7, but removing frenzy and sure feet would make it OK in my book.
Horns would be fine too.

Just interested if anything further came of the Beastman team discussion.
Is anyone playtesting anything?

As far as I could see, the team looked to be heading towards:

Code: Select all

0-12  Linemen/Gors  60,000   6 3 3 8  Horns {G,S,Ph}
0-2   Bestigor      100,000  6 4 2 8  Horns {G,S,Ph}
0-2   Centigor      120,000  7 4 2 8  Horns, Sprint {G,S,Ph}
with variations on the Centigor (+/- MA, +/- Sure Feet).

Just interested,

gaijin

Still waiting for our leagues rules review to see if the rest of the league will be up for letting me playtest the team.

Having thought about them though one concern I do have is the speed of development of the team. The chaos team take an age to develop anyway, this team has even more expensive players (alright you can buy them later) and only AG2 on the ST4 players. Might make them even less relevant for a lot of short term leagues.

One completely different roster I am leaning towards at the moment:

Code: Select all

0-12  Gors  60,000   6 3 3 8  Horns {G,S,Ph}
0-6   Bestigor      90,000  6 3 3 8  Horns, Block {G,S,Ph}
0-2   Centigor      90,000  6 3 2 8  Horns, Sprint, Sure Feet, Frenzy {G,S,Ph}

Re-rolls  60,000
This is quite a different team and is aiming for a CD variant rather than straight chaos. I'm fairly sure it'll not be a popular idea because of the lack of ST4.

Currently playtesting:

60k Gors 6 3 3 8 horns
50k Ungor 7 3 3 7 (can take agility skills)
100k Bestigor 6 3 3 9 horns block
130k Centigor 7 4 2 8 horns sprint sure hooves

Seems ok, but Centigor probably too good.

How do you figure? Going with Gaijin's roster, the Centigors do cost more, but they don't have a big guy so you've cut down on one positional player right there.

Hmmm. I guess a beatsman roster should really have access to a Minotaur big guy (I didn't think about it before).

If the team looks slow to develop, you can always add

Code: Select all

0-2 Runner 70,000  6 3 3 8  Horns, Sure Hands {G, St, Phy}
(possibly even with passing access).
Or alternatively an Ungor position like Xzar's.
Both those have the advantage of a) giving the team 4 positions, and b) giving more variety to starting teams.

Actually I had assumed that a Minotaur would be included, although it wasn't specified. But then not using any Big Guys in our local league means I tend to forget about them during discussions like this :oops:
