Leader?

Post by Havoc »

To me leader seams like a good first choice on a lineman double. It isn´t included in the skill faq. Why?

Come on! Is it always preferable to get guard on a first double for linemen? I play WE.

I would not give leader to my first double on a lineman. Maybe guard as you already said or Mighty Blow is nice too.

Leader is a thing when you roll a third double on a third lineman or so. But that is my opinion only.

If I have atleast one gaurd then I will use a first double on a lineman for leader, then usually get him kick as well so that he can become my team skill specialest lineman.

I always give my first lineman, lineelf, lineorc, skeleton whatever Leader on a first double. You need those RRs in early team development and usually save 100k or more, and I honestly doubt that Guard on a non-Block linedude is equally valuable. And Leaders are much more likely to survive than Guards. The only teams I can think of right now in which I might prefer Guard are Zons and perhaps Norse, for Longbeards I'd chose Stand Firm. Mutations might be better though.

I would definately choose guard. For a WE team this is a crucial skill.

Depends on the team. On most bashy teams it would be leader or kick first, while on my finesse teams it would most likely be guard or kick.

I have never been able to get a woodie-lineelf a second skill after Guard since he simply had a big red "TARGET No 1" on his face.

Well you aren't playing with Big Guys - its well worth it for them (especially on TTM teams).

Others have said it well - leader's great on every team with a big guy. On Amazons and Elves, I'd go with Guard.

If i don't have 3 TRR with Elves (and you usually can't afford that i think) I am taking it as first double...you need to roll so many dice with elves that those ones will come up. ReRolls are key...
first 1 leader on elves, followede by guard ( a lot)

For elf teams, I'll go for guard as you will buy a lot of positionnal players that have "built-in" RR :
* pass
* dodge
* catch

block reduces your need of a RR, too, since you really decrease your chances of failing (usually from 2 to 4 times).

The only rolls that could need a RR are IMHO :
* picking up the ball
* dodging with linemen for damage control
* leaping with the WD

Manage the 2 first without RR (spend a lino to protect the ball, dodge LE as the last actions of the turns) and only leap when you need it? with a 2nd chance RR, if possible.

Leader is less useful than guard, that allows you to blitz one of those damn BOB blocking the path to your receivers for the ultimate-wining-2-turns-flood-TD.

Leader is really valuable to have big guys more reliable. If you haven't any, it's not a priority.
