The Reikenbach Fools (lots of images)

Post by Raven »

Hi everyone,

Well, after about a year (I'm not kidding! :D ) I finally finished up my Human team, the Reikenbach Fools. I keep meaning to sign up to my local BB league (CHUBBLeague in NC) but never get round to it. Maybe some day. But I am hoping to use these guys at CarolinaCon in May, job workload permitting.

So these are the Reikenbach Fools. Team colours are dark red and golden yellow in quarters (i.e. to look like court jesters! :D ).

The Whole Team:

I only think the blitzers have a bit much metalic on them. but this also makes them look stronger as the others so it is cool in that way too.

They look really good! Like them alot, and the metallic look of the blitzers doesn't bother me at all... still look excellent, and are easier to tell apart from the linemen with just a glance.

How come only three Catchers, offhand? This one puzzles me a bit.

Looks good, though. :)

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.

I bought it. My wife dragged me into a local make-your-own-jewellery store (she has to stand around in the games store for hours, so I suppose it's only fair  ) one day and I was really bored so I just started looking through the thousands of beads. One lot was sporting motif and I found a pile of these football helmets (about 80 cents each). So I bought a load. I had to file off the metal ringlet (that usually connects the bead to a bracelet or necklace I guess).

I've done one for my Orc team that I'm currently painting but converting it with spikes along the centre ridge and on the face grill.

Thanks, Odin. What don't you like about the Ogre's skin? I thought it turned out quite well. Dark Flesh base coat, layering of Dwarf Flesh, then Elf Flesh drybrushing.

3 Catchers suits my style of play. I usually start with this roster:

3 Blitzers (270k)
1 Thrower (70k)
1 Ogre (120k)
1 Catcher (70k)
6 Linemen (300k)
2 RR (100k)
7 FF (70k)

I prefer a running game mostly, using my Blitzers as the runners and to punch a hole in the opponent's line. But I like the flexibility of having at least one Catcher. The Ogre means I can bash with the best of them. I try to get a fourth Blitzer as soon as I can, followed by two more Catchers.

The team actually works out perfectly at 16 players without overloading on positional players (which would mean I can't field enough Linemen in a starting roster). Lug the Ogre usually replaces Lineman #16. Griff and Zug are just extras.
