I'm 100% confident we'll never see even a test cast of CD #7 traveller. My understand was that the green was destroyed while making the 1st test cast of the figure and that the test cast was too screwed up to keep and use a metal master. This information came from a GW-UK guy who worked in the mould room when these figures were first being made.

Yes, it is but you should add that you managed to win that auction because of the "CD#6 finance consortium". 8)

Since i have strip out the fig, maybe this scan will help you to decide if it is an official thrower #3 or not

The only conversions i have made are to remove spikes and the "chicken crete"... :D

Dain ... what does this mean exactly. Did you actually already convert this figure (ie snip off real pieces of the miniature?

Dain ... depending on the conversion it sounds like you aready might have done ... that could very well be a REALLY well converted Thrower #2.

Signs that indicate this to me. The arm is bent different than Thrower #2 but the back of the arm from your scan clearly shows what looks like stress marks from this bend at the point where they are different.

The Thower #2 has a pointed finger but this does not. But again in your scan I can see stress marks where the finger appears to have been bent down.

So that leaves the other 3 changes. The missing spikes from both shoulder pads and the crest line on the helmet ... which it sounds like you may have removed yourself.

So with all that ... I leaning right now on masterful conversion and not unique fig.

Hopefully Traveller can add his 2 cents on this.

I see all the same things Galak does too. The finger is You can see the crack right behind the gauntlet.

One other "clue" is the lack of GW part number. We know that the CD7 once existed but was destroyed before any could be spun but that mini's # still exists. If there was a 3rd Human thrower, he would still have a part number and this one doesn't.

Thanks, Dain, for finally stripping that fig and clearing this up.

Yes, i have converted the mini BUT ... just by removing spikes and the same crete than the 2nd ed thrower #2

The finger hasn't been converted. Even if there is stress on it, it could means the fig has fallen and been damaged. The finger has not been converted too; If i did it, we could easlily see the real shape of it. In that case the whole fist is in one part

For the arm, same thing, i have not bend the arm. Nevertheless, i agree that the previous owner could have made it :-? But i don't think so. He wasn't fine enough to make it without damage the fig.

As you said, this could be a converted mini, but after making many many conversions i could say that:
1) The arm hasn't been bent -> a rotation of 90° of it should have broke it.
2) The fist is in one part without finger conversion. ->making a fist like that is easier with Green stuff. If i agree we can stress on it, there is too much metal under the finger to think it has been bent

I will try to make a photo with my camera, maybe this will show you much details.

FYI "crete" is French for crest.. as in the ridge on the helmet...

Am I imagining it but on the rear shot of the mini, does the fist on the right not look too flat, as though it was filed or dropped?

to me, the marks between the elbow pad and the gauntlet look like a small line cut to make bending it easier. And the finger looks like the kind of mess I used to make in my first conversions. Not masterful in any way :)
