Totally agree, but i would rather have 4 thralls with 16 spps, than 7 with 6 spps. That way you can send the unskilled ones to escort the vamps.

Well, yes, but it also means your thralls will already develop somewhat better, because in some instances you will need them to score, instead of letting the GR do all the work.

I am not syaing catch-passblock is bad :-) i just think you need other stuff first,

A couple of suggestions for 1.09 PBBL Vamps cropped up today:

Galak suggested getting Mercenary Thralls for 70K through the Indenture system. Providing, as he called them, "Biting Dummies" Combined with the extra Apoc and Chirurgeon it should be possible to keep them around for most of the match. Sadly you want to play teams with higher TR or spend a fair bit from your Treasury to do that.

The other one came from Plasmoid. Which is on doubles getting Thick Skull for thralls, meaning they get stunned on 1 - 8 and only KOd on a 9.

I didn't really want to go into too much detail than that because it's 1.9 PBBL rules and it should be discussed in the Playtest Vault section.

Suffice to say Vamps get a bit of help when you make the switch over to PBBL, not masses, but a bit. The Mercenray Thralls are like freebooters, the Chirugeon is a variation on the apocathary (but instead of curing the injury, the player just ignores it for the match) So combine them and you get a player who can ignore his first casualty, stay on the pitch and if he gets killed etc it doesn't matter.

I guess best way to compare this in LBR 4 is hiring a couple of freebooter thralls for your vampires to munch on. Which saves the thralls you've actually bought. But PBBL rules provide cash for pre-match hiring if you're the underdog (it's the new handicap system.)

I kind of wish I'd thought of hiring freebooter thralls when I was playing LRB 4, I'm nearly at the 6 vampire point so just saving the last 2 slots on my team for freebooter biting dummies would of been a nice way of slowing my teams TR increase.
