You have to declare a Pass Action with the player if you wish to pick up and pass the ball. But once you've done this and picked up the ball you can always change your mind and not pass. This still uses your team's Pass Action.

Similar with a pick up and Hand Off.

Its the done thing but if its a friendly game (as much as these things are) and you forget, your opponent may let you off as long as you haven't passed thus far.

I pretty much declare a Pass or Hand Off action every time I move the player with the ball (or the player about to pick up the ball.)

That way I never have to worry about not having the chance to toss the ball if I want too. And if I happen to spot a decent window to pass/hand the ball to another player, I have the chance.

A blitz is a move with possible block during the movement, you don't have to block.

But if you don't block, you can not call another blitz that turn.

Pass and Hand off are the same way.

With Vamps and Ogres, does one have to declare block? As in is "move" the standard undeclared action before the neg roll?

If at first one doesn't succeed, and doesn't try again, then he will never succeed.

Yes (and other Big Guys as well).

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

But don't you still have to declare who will receive the pass? If so, then there is almost no advatange in declaring a pass EVERY time someone moves with the ball. It often is a question of a different receiver, than to pass or not to pass.

Correct me if I am wrong, I only have 20 games behind my belt.

You only declare the target of the pass when you actually throw the ball. You can even measure to any and as many receivers as you like, any time during your Pass action.

No, have a read through the passing rules again (LRB5 p.12) and you'll see that nowhere does it say you must declare the target at the start of the action. You choose the target after you've finished moving.
It is perfectly acceptable to pre-measure the range to several players at any point during the throwing player's move before you declare the target of the pass.

You declare the pass or handoff when you move the ball carrier just in case you change your mind and decide you need to do something with the ball to make it safer. If you just move, you're stuck where you are. It only opens up options is all. That's why they said that.
