For the record I realise it's a matter of common sense that some skills may apply when you are on the ground and some not.
As I understand it traits/racial characteristics and physical traits are always on and so must be used where applicable, skills may be used where appropriate at the players choice.
This means, for instance, that a player with Block can choose not to use it if he wishes although I cannot think why you would not want to use it. I agree this is not relevant when a player is prone as he cannot block or be blocked.

I was going to say that I do not think a prone player with foul appearance should affect the play but the way the rulebook reads it appears he does.
I think I'll leave this thread now before I start making even less sense.
