ah well

Post by OgreStan »

Bonehead doesnt bother me that much as i have always had mainly good dice rolls.

As for re-rolls i have done many matches with only 1 re-roll so having 2 is a bonus to me.

As for brick+grotty the torny im going to doesnt allow star players except for gobbos who can have 2

WEIRD EH??

So... some thread necromancy.

Now that the LRB5 is in full effect I have 4 ogres available next match (TV840, 10 players) and will get 450 inducements against skaven.

I am thinking of:
1) Morg
2) Brick & Grotty + Nobbla + BWBabe
3) Brick & Grotty + Bribe + Scrappa
4) Brick & Grotty + Re-Roll (now have 2) + BWBabe
5) Chef (opponent has 3 rr) + Bribe or Nobbla +BWBabe

Nobbla: is he worth it without a bribe against skaven who may score quickly?
Is Morg better than 3 stars?
How much can you get out of scrappa for such a match?

Not sure if it's rude to suggest your own option but:

Brick & Grotty & Wizard

I can't believe Morg is worth throwing all your cash at and I'm not wild about SW when (as you mention) there is high risk of quick TDs.

Considered the wizard as well (only once though :P). He's just not worth it. Now, if a wizard could ZAP a Gutter Runner...

Not sure what happened then but obviously I feel my post was important enough to be repeated so I'll leave it that way...

In fact I may do it with all my posts from now on!

I'd take Nobbla, personally. Just make sure you bring him out when you're receiving, and delay any Touchdowns in favour of removing as many enemy players as possible.

Not much sure how you can 'delay' a TD if playing with boneheads and snotlings..... a failed BH, a gutter (or even a blitzer) that sneaks in and high risk of receiving a TD (and losing Nobbla).....

Brick & Grotty + Re-Roll + BWBabe

Never have enough RR with ogres, and be sure you can have a lot of ko (even against skaven).

The Chef has a lot going for it.. especially if the skaven don't have too many reroll skills.

But the wizard would be my first choice, probably with as many rerolls as possible. Or maybe a Dirty Trick card. Custard Pie!

matsu hantakage wrote:Out of Interest what are peoples thought on skill progression for Ogres.

I'm off the opinion:

Doubles:
Block everytime, for 2nd doubles Strip ball or Leader

Normal:
Break Tackle - adds good maneuverabilty to the Ogres.
following this:

Stand Firm - a decent 2nd skill, makes it harder for people to seperate ogres
Guard - Good to give to 1-2 Ogres, especially if you keep them in groups of 2+
Grab: Have not really tried this yet
Piling On: Should get more casualties, and I've tried it in a few games, but have rarely had a time where re-rolling the dice is worth having my Ogre on the ground
Strong Arm: Nice as 3rd or 4th skill for a dedicated TTM player.
Multiple Block: With a snotling to run in and assist / cancel assists this can be quite effective.
Juggernaut: Again not a bad 3rd skill, and loses some effectiveness if the player later gets block.
What about wrestle? It puts the opponent on the ground with his head around boot height for the DP snottie.

Wrestle is good on snots, especially given that they can get Jump Up on singles. You might put Wrestle on an ogre that's a dedicated ball-handler-chaser, but usually, Block is better. If you're making an ogre for taking down ball carriers, Strip Ball, Tackle and Frenzy are all at least as good as Wrestle.
