it's tough to go wrong with any of them
That about sums it up really... two skill ups on the best out-of-the-box player in the game - side step and frenzy, tackle and dauntless, strip ball and side step - he's gonna be the best player in your league. You better hope he never goes prone within the reach of a foul

I guess I'd probably go with side step and strip ball, with either tackle or frenzy coming next.

look at what other teams are in the league cd's necro woodies and pro elves unless 1 gets a str+ the only higher strength ball carriers out there are the bulls on the cd's

I wouldn't worry about trying to use this Wardancer to deal with Big Guys anyway. That's not his first best use. His job is to score, make sure other players can score and to take down/take the ball away from the other side's ball carrier. Frenzy, tackle, strip ball, sidestep. You could take any combination of those 4 skills and make a star player out of this guy. I personally still vote for frenzy and tackle, (I'm an aggressive player, usually play Dark Elves, Witch Elves are great) but any of these skills will be highly useful to you.

Doing 1/2 die blocks as a planned strategy is a recipe for disaster, even with strip ball. Doing 2die against blocking should be an emergency, last-resort only measure. Heck I try real hard to avoid even strength blocking. :)

throwing 2 die you pick is just asking to get your player smashed, especially if you're in the middle of their cage. That's a foul with a bunch of assists just waiting to happen.

A 1/2 die block with Block against a non-Wrestler is like an unskilled 3+ dodge, if a push is good. It's a desperation move without a TRR and a moderate risk with a TRR (assuming a push works: otherwise it's a bad risk all around). On a 160k AV7 player, you can up that from "desperation" to "suicide" or from "moderate risk" to "major risk."

I take strip ball-sidestep on my first wardancer and tackle-frenzy on the second, and sometimes the other way around. Both of those will be good. Strip ball-tackle is another alternative when you consider the league you are going to play in (nice to have a tackler to blitz with in normal turns in an elven game, and strip ball is a pretty good defense against the elven stalling that many players like)

Strip Ball-Frenzy I dont like, as that forced second block often screws up your "strip ball" action.

A 2 die against block is not a bad thing when you get the ball afterwards. It's a breeze if you have a reroll. With a WD you can usually make sure that the push is towards your other players waiting outside the cage, which means that either you get the ball or you can block any enemy catching the ball. Fouling is rarely an optimal strategy if your enemy has the ball, especially as one of the first actions. In case of last actions, the cage will have dispersed.

A 2-dice against block IS a bad thing.
IMHO, it's never to be tried, if you can help it. I don't think anybody in the earth would start making lots of rerolled GFIs just 'cause "they're a breeze", and their chance to succeed is WAY better than a 1/2 block (you have 33.3% chance to fall on single skull, 10.8% rerolling it, against the standard 2+ roll that is 16.7% prone to fail, 2% rerolled). 1 out of 10 AND a TRR wasted IS bad coaching if you ask me (of course, we are talking of an habit, not of a desperate measure... in that case it's perfectly understandable).

And, tactically speaking, as one of last actions, I WILL always foul that 7-AV diamond on the ground if I can help. And without disperding the cage: if I can make the foul without assists, it will be ok anyway (my odds are 16,7% of success in piercing armor as a base, and I don't mind the CAS) :P But, you know, I plain HATE wardancers :D

Hmm well i know i suck in playing Woodies.
But how can you get the ball away from a S4 player in a cage or from a S3 player with some guard in that cage.
Even if you cover all the caging players that they dont give assist your Wardancer still has to make a 1/2 dice block to get the ball free.

But maybe i just dont have found the magic tricks of woodies jet how to stop the opponent if the cage has already formed and contains either a S4 carrier or some guard in it.

As bad as a 2D against block looks on paper I think it has some things in its favour. Firstly you arent always going to be making a 2D against block, mostly it'll be a 1D block or mabe even 2D your pick. Secondly take notice that strip ball is the only skill where such a block is even viable, in the same situation a wardancer without strip ball wouldn't even have a chance. The closest skill in that situation would be dauntless which dosent negate guard, costs an extra roll, and which is much less effective for actually getting the ball loose.

I wouldn't necessarily advocate leaping into a cage to stripball 2D against every turn but its a very nice option to have and strip ball does so much more than just that, with the wardancers movement you should be able to hit the carrier before they are properly caged and in that situation garunteeing that the ball goes loose is much more important than knocking the carrier over.

The key being

So you're in favour of strip ball?
