Yeah, I think Block over ST7 is ludicrous. ST7/Stand Firm is really awesome! Nobody can hit you!

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Cmon, double 6s are freaking rare! It would be idiotic to turn it down. When I play with my flings usually my opponents target treemen by swarming over them. ST 7 is a great counter against it, it's not easy to get 5 assists with ST 3 player. And think about multiple block after that, 2 dice against ST 4 players... Well at least I'd accept the ST increase, but it's your decision.

I don't follow this rule. For example, I don't take +1ST on Rotters (because I don't consider it cost-effective in TV terms, and largely wasted on the line of scrimmage).Andrew from Cheadle wrote:Blood Bowl rule No 1
ALWAYS take a strength increase.
Once in a progression tournament, I took +1ST on a Bull Centaur. I was in two minds when I took it, and regretted it - Break Tackle would have been much more useful in the remaining games.
So while it is rare not to take +1ST, it can happen, depending on the team and the circumstances.
Hope this helps.

Take block
One of the aspects of 'fling teams is keeping your TV low so you can have juicy inducements; start taking ST increases and you lose some of that.
And two trees and Deepthroat (most of the time) is more than enough!
And you can confidently take on other blockers - how many times have you nonchalantly thrown 2D blocks with Black Orcs or Chaos Warriors etc and got skull/both down or similar, and at the worst possible time?
Other guys have said it too, getting an assist for 3D blocks won't be too hard - and then you'll have 3D AND block. Sweet.
Don't just mindlessly take a ST increase, mindlessly take block instead

He took block.
He plays "the wall", where the trees & the star (preferably morg) take out the opposition 4vs11. The "wall" starts tight, then expands to one side or the other, then moves slowly & turns into a TTM or a running score (or not). For this, block is a natural choice even over jump up and probably over ST.
Note how, if you can get morg your 'wall' is comprised entirely of ST6-7 players with AV10 and mighty blow
. And how like a "wall" they move slowly, and are hard to reliably knock down or even slow down.

Code: Select all
St = star, De = deeproot,Tr = tree, Ha = Flings, Bc = ballcarrier
An example start:
-- -- -- --|De -- -- Tr -- -- Tr|-- -- -- --
