Halflings are broken....
ok, so having gotten fed up with Bash teams and agility teams on cyanide...I decided to try Half-kings (with a little help from the Twitterverse)
so far against a mixture of opposition I have gone 9 wins, 1 draw and no losses.... I am not that good anymore, I know that... a lack of human opposition has made me weak and less obsessive (see MattSlater for an example of how I was.)
but they are so easy to win with in short league situations that it is silly. Inducements make them super bashy.. Morg, Deeproot and two block trees and you can just annihilate the front line of any opposition... diving tackle on 4 or 5 half-kings makes them super decent at defence...
I have not even felt in danger of giving up a TD so far....
maybe access to Morg is wrong...

Re: Halflings are broken....
Interesting... to say the least.
What rules are you using?
2 block trees seem odd.
And a roster that includes Morg and Deeproot... Even if you take 11 halflings and no treemen, no rerolls, no apoth, no-nothin' - you won't get both of those against another starting roster.
Explain

Explain
basic Cyanide rules
first skill on one was a double, the other got a double as a second skill (his first was grab to feed the other tree)
Morg and Deeproot are inducements... My opposition all seem to be in the TV 1.3m to 1.5m range
I seem to be winning the casualty battle as well which obviously helps..
starting roster was 2 trees, 9 half-kings 1 reroll

Re: Halflings are broken....
Against opponents who don't play good offense, Halflings are actually quite competitive.
I really appreciate you calling me weak, man. I do okay on FUMBBL, even if online gaming isn't to my tastes. A reasonable noob, after playing a few games against veterans, is much better than Cyanide's AI.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Uhm, do you mean you're playing against the Cyanide AI? That would totally explain why you can't lose.voyagers_uk wrote:a lack of human opposition has made me weak and less obsessive
If you are indeed playing other human players instead.. well, I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Re: Halflings are broken....
If you couldn't beat the AI with 'flings you need to practice
In match making 'flings won't do so well since there are unlikely to be 830k+ of inducements.

Re: Halflings are broken....
There's really a huge difference between the Cyanide AI and "real" Blood Bowl - it's actually quite hard to lose against the AI, even with a weak team, but if you tried the same thing against a human coach, there's no way you could do the same.
The AI does a lot of stupid things, for example is uses ogres and minotaurs as "sweepers" and as a result if the opponent has Morg'n'Thorg you could play an entire game without Morg'n'Thorg throwing a single block against you. No way this would happen against a human coach.

My flings are broken. Usually in a big pile of bodies at the side of the Apothecary's (or, more likely, the Tree Surgeon's) table when playing a team with a lot of Tackle.
