Turnover question (inaccurate pass caught by team-mate)
An inaccurate pass scatters, bounces, and is caught by a player on the moving team (not the target of the pass).
Is this a Turnover?
Cheers

As long as someone in your team catches it, it's not a turnover. Even if it bounces on the floor, goes in the crowd and gets thrown back, it doesn't matter. As long as someone in your team has it when it finishes moving, it's not a turnover.
Of course, if the pass wasn't accurate, you still don't get a completion.

@Asmodan
I do not know if you've responded to my answer or the original question, but in the LRB it clearly says that it's not a turnover when after an inaccurate pass the ball ends up on another player of the same team (including bounces), whereas it's a turnover when failing to pick up the ball, regardless of whom catching the ball afterwards (p. 9)

Thanks
Thanks, guys -
I know the wording in the LRB is clear, and that it's not a turnover.
However, I had a wrong ruling on this during the tournament, from Andy Hall, of all people! - So I thought I'd check.
By good fortune, the ruling didn't influence the result of the game, but it could have cost me 20 or 30 places!
Cheers

Re: Andy & Jervis Clueless???
Harsh - but not unfair. JJ and AH don't seem to be in touch with the BB community and don't seem to understand the game balance. Look at the experimental lists that they've been coming up with. Most of them are badly broken in one way or another - something almost anyone on this board should have been able to tell them.Babs wrote:Thats' a bit harsh Zombie.

Hopefully things will get better - and I suspect part of it is fanatic getting their act together.

Re: Andy & Jervis Clueless???
A bit harsh yes ... but the stuff showing up in BB Mag and although we've agreed it was a bad dream, 4th edition, have burnt down a lot of the credibility factor for understanding the game.Babs wrote:Thats' a bit harsh Zombie.

The worst thing about this ruling by Andy Hall at the Blood Bowl tournament is that this rules in on page 13 of the 3RD!!!! edition Rule Book (ie its been a rule for Blood Bowl for 9 freaking years) ... its not like its a new change to game by the BBRC.
I was heartily depressed to hear this one. This would have been a red flag offense for me for SURE if it had been my game as there is no way in h*ll I could have kept my mouth shut if Andy had ruled this way for my game. Of course, I doubt Andy would have had to rule as I would have been able to show my opponent in the BB Handbook the exact page where it says that a pass can bounce on the ground and still be caught and not be a turnover; so I doubt a judge would have been called over.
And before ANYONE suggests this ... its not a confusing rule ... its one of the fun rules in the game and makes for great stories ... this does not need changed .... anyone who suggests it should be should be shot on site (traq drats for fine for this penalty ... real bullets for 2nd offenses) ... hmmm better add ... IMO

Getting Jervis and Andy to PLAY THE GAME!!!
Thanks guys.
I learned my lesson - don't ask Andy (or Jervis for that matter) for a rules ruling. I should have either solved the problem myself, or called for someone like Brian StJames. Luckily the lesson came for free.
I think the comment about Andy is a bit harsh. However, it does seem to me that both Jervis and Andy may not be playing the game nowadays, and so they can't see play balance or rules issues with blinding force. For example, I think the strength of opinion against Star Players came as a surprise to Jervis - it wouldn't be a surprise if he played with them!
I hope that the non-GW BBRC members (plus the NAF) can exercise some influence over the future of the game (epecially in play balance - influence over rules seems to be there already).
Meanwhile, is there anything the BBRC (and others) can do to get Jervis and Andy to PLAY THE GAME?!?!?!
Cheers
